A Day in the Death of Joe Egg

Despite the disturbing parental joking about euthanizing a severely disabled daughter in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, Peter Nichols’ 1967 play earned four Tony Award nominations, including Best Play. By today’s standards, the content is hardly radical, but critics still laud it as one of the most important theatrical works of the 20th century. ACT takes on the darkly humorous story, with locals Terry Edward Moore and Leslie Law as the parents whose wisecracks thinly disguise deep anguish.
