Let’s dive deep into the holiday spirit with some liquid play dates.

It’s Hot Toddy Tuesday every week during the month of December in Pan Pacific Hotel’s Lobby Bar (2125 Terry Avenue). The warming drink – spiked with citrus and spice – will be offered as a two-fer during the extra long holiday happy hour from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. And if you’re a fan of shopping tipsy, you’ll want to check out the Glassybaby pop-up store set up near the bar. For each one of those pretty pieces sold, 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Ben Towne Foundation, which supports research on pediatric cancer. And Pan Pacific will match that contribution, so you can feel extra warm and fuzzy about that purchase.

Slyly named Night School at the Sorrento’s next Drinking Lessons focuses on the most festive beverage of all, Champagne with a capital “C.” Students get the lowdown on a mix of history and all sorts of bubbly trivia during a 1.5 hour guided tasting on Dec. 12 in the Hunt Club Bar. There are two seatings, at 6 p.m. and another at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased in advance on Brown Paper Tickets.

Wine World celebrates its second anniversary Saturday with a free sparkling wine tasting between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., with 16 different wines poured. Six local catering companies will be serving appetizers during this bubbly bash at the Wallingford store (400 NE 45th Street).

Urbane Market's next Washington Wine Challenge Wednesdays pit our homegrown domestic sparklers against the stuff from France. Will you be able to tell the difference? Pony up $12 on Dec. 5 between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Market (located in The Hyatt at Olive 8, the casual coffee shop/wine bar/dry goods shop next to Urbane restaurant) to find out.

If you’re looking for a reason to dress up in your best 1920s vintage, grab a date and head to the Bootlegger’s Ball on December 9 at the Backdoor at Roxy’s in Fremont. This annual fete features a fancy din din, free-flowing gin and plenty of opportunities to practice your dance moves. Tickets are $50 and the kitty goes to the One World Now!, a Seattle-based program designed to encourage the next generation of global leaders.
