Shopping at Pike Place Market can be high spirited in high summer, but it’s also a primo destination for outdoor dining—and many spots boast glistening Elliott Bay views. Here’s where to go and what to order.

1. Indulge in steak tartare with truffle frites and a glass of rosé while overlooking the Great Wheel on MAXIMILIEN’S deck. 81A Pike St.; 206.682.7270; maximilienrestaurant.com

2. Relish the rich oeufs en meurette in red wine and foie gras sauce during weekend brunch on the Post Alley street-view terrace at CAFÉ CAMPAGNE. 1600 Post Alley; 206.728.2233; cafecampagne.com

3. Perfect for tourist-watching from the sidewalk patio at SEATOWN: a crab BLT with pickled green tomatoes. 2010 Western Ave.; 206.436.0390; tomdouglas.com

4. On every must list: a stellar antipasto plate and a big bowl of linguine con vongole (clams) at midday on the rooftop patio of THE PINK DOOR, Pike Place Market’s quintessential summer destination. 1919 Post Alley; 206.443.3241; thepinkdoor.net

5. Order classic Italian fare—rigatoni Bolognese, rack of lamb—and proper cocktails delivered in high style at one of IL BISTRO’s three first-come, first-served outdoor tables. 93A Pike St.; 206.682.3049; ilbistro.net

6. Just up the hill at LE PICHET, destination-worthy French bistro fare is served sidewalk-café style. Savor the city’s best Bibb lettuce salad, ideal with a pitcher (pichet) of chilled wine. 1933 First Ave.; 206.256.1499; lepichetseattle.com

7. Next door to Le Pichet, tavern fare and frosty pints have been the VIRGINIA INN’s specialty since it opened in 1903. Nowadays, we crave the sockeye salmon burger at a sidewalk table for two. 1937 First Ave.; 206.728.1937; virginiainnseattle.com
