Amex & the 12s: American Express has announced a multi-year partnership with the Seahawks, its first with the team. What does it mean exactly? It means free pre-game events for fans hosted by American Express in a new area at Occidental Park called Section 12. The first one is on September 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be food and beverages from local shops and Seahawks-related activities. It also means Blue Fridays will get a boost and will feature giveaways (such as autographed Seahawks gear) and meet-and-greets with former players on select Fridays. American Express card members will also receive perks, like the free personal radio (seen above) that lets you hear play-by-play commentary while watching the game at the stadium.

Local Concessions: CenturyLink Field’s concessions have gone local this season. According to Seahawks.com, you can say goodbye to generic food stands and hello to familiar Seattle restaurants. Uli’s Famous Sausage will be serving three different sausages, including its take on the Seattle dog. Rain Shadow Meats will be serving its delicious sandwiches with meat smoked on site. Dig in to a bowl of pork fried rice at either Kau Kau BBQ or Hue Ky Mi Gia. The stadium will also be adding other healthier options that include Kombucha, hummus, salads, quinoa and grass-fed burgers. And don’t worry, the Seahawks are adamant that you can still get a beer and a plain old hot dog if that’s what you really want.

New Vancouver Symphony President: According to a recent press release, Kelly Tweeddale, the current executive director of the Seattle Opera, has been appointed president of the Vancouver Symphony Society and VSO School of Music Society. The change will take place on November 16, 2015. Tweeddale has been with the Seattle Opera since 2000, and has been the executive director since 2003. “Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presented the perfect opportunity for me to take the next step in my grand belief that music changes lives. I am thankful to Seattle Opera for the role it played in honing a set of unique skills, and I look forward to further place-making, audience-building and innovation in another vibrant community,” Tweeddale said.

Huge New Clothing Store: Justin Kercher and former Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander’s retail line Do The Extraordinary has landed in downtown Seattle. The store opened last week on 6th Avenue and Olive Way, in the 6,000 square-foot space that was previously occupied by European Antiques. Do The Extraordinary sells both mens and women’s apparel and it’s all made in the United States. Get tickets here to the grand opening event, which will feature live performances by local artists Nyoka and the BGP and a runway show revealing the fall and winter collection. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $75 for VIP.

101 Stories: The Puget Sound Business Journal states that a new skyscraper is in the works for downtown Seattle, and not just any skyscraper. This one would be 101 stories, which would surpass the Columbia Center by 25 floors, and would be located on Fourth Avenue between Cherry and Columbia Streets. A Miami company is behind the tower plans, which include 1,200 residences, 167,150 square feet of retail and office space, a small hotel, and parking. There are only four completed buildings in the United States over 100 stories. Two are in Chicago and two are in New York. It remains to be seen whether Seattle will get the fifth one, or when it would actually be finished.
