Wine and Dine
Even though RN74 is owned by chef Michael Mina, the wine comes first here. The celebrated San Francisco–based chef says that he’ll design his menu to match the wines (not the other way around) at RN74 Seattle, whose name stands for the Route Nationale 74, the road that runs through the wine region of Burgundy, France. The Seattle offshoot of Mina’s San Francisco wine bar opens this month in the historic Joshua Green Building at Fourth Avenue and Pike Street. Mina, an Ellensburg native who owns 18 other restaurants around the country, promises affordable, wine-friendly food (most dishes are less than $20) to be paired with 50 wines available by the glass. Chef Michelle Retallack, a longtime Mina executive sous-chef, will lead the kitchen, and Rajat Parr, who oversees the wine lists for all of Mina’s restaurants, will be hand-selecting the list for RN74 Seattle as well.

Quick Hits
Here are a few new restaurants worth checking out: Bar del Corso, a pizzeria from Betty’s former chef, Jerry Corso, opens next month on Beacon Hill. After 15 years (!), World Pizza reopens this month in the International District. (The original was in Belltown.) Also, when you get that inevitable margarita-on-the-beach hankering, head to the second El Chupacabra (the first on Phinney Ridge), which opened in April on Alki Beach. And finally, adding to the continuing pie shop-ification of Seattle is Georgetown’s American Pie, which makes dessert pies and savory pot pies.
