Foodie alert! Denmark’s My New Roots blogger Sarah Britton comes to Tallulah’s

Capitol Hill restaurant hosts family-style dinner for wildly popular blogger

By Seattle Mag April 4, 2016

Beets, raspberries, and ice on a table.

Plant-based eating is growing faster than a zucchini at the height of summer (you know who you are, growers of mammoth squash). In Seattle, healthy, fast-casual restaurants like Sweetgrass Food Co (downtown) and just-opened Jujubeet Cafe (Bellevue) are finally making kale something to crave.

In the global blogosphere, it is people like Sarah Britton of Copenhagen, Denmark, who are preaching the plant gospel. Britton is the recipe developer and certified nutritional practitioner behind My New Roots, an award-winning blog (Saveur Magazine 2014 Best Food Blog Awards for Best Special Diets Blog) of totally gorgeous plant-based vegan and raw recipes and food adventures galore. Britton has been writing the blog since 2007. Before that, she worked as a chef at several restaurants, including Noma and Nordic Food Lab in Copenhagen.

In her first Seattle appearance and to celebrate her 2015 cookbook, My New Roots: Inspired Plant-Based Recipes for Every Season, Britton is coming to Tallulah’s in Capitol Hill on April 17 for a collaboration with executive chef Walter Edward. The communal, family-style meal will feature three courses highlighting local, spring produce and a new My New Roots recipe. Oddfellows Cafe + Bar lead baker Kyle Lodgson will prepare a special My New Roots dessert.

The first seating will be at 5 p.m. and the second seating at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 each. Space is limited and reservations are required. To reserve your spot, email mynewroots@tallulahseattle.com. Copies of the My New Roots cookbook will be available for purchase and Britton will be able to sign them for guests.
