Ikea Launches Collection of Stationery, Gift Wrap & Party Decor

In which I dive into the colorful world of Papershop and declare my affair with Ikea

I have a soft spot for Ikea. I say this as someone who is currently sitting in Karim Rashid’s elegantly odd Kite chair; someone who worships Mies van der Rohe’s Brno armchair; someone who vows to one day own either a Saarinen Womb chair (in pink!) or the tubular steel-and-leather-sling wonder that is the Wassily designed by Marcel Breuer, of course. (Yes, I have a thing for chairs.)

There’s just something about that ridiculously oversized store that despite my love of fine furniture design and grand architecture, I can’t get enough of. Perhaps it’s the photo frames (I’ve got tons of ’em all over the house) or maybe it’s the bookcases. Regardless, I was pleased as spiked punch when I heard Ikea was launching a whole line of paper goods and party decor.

Papershop is Ikea’s foray into the creative and colorful world of stationery (though the press packet from Ikea referenced “stationary” *tsk tsk*), gift wrap (including tape, ribbon and boxes and bags) and party decor (squee to the ninth degree over the hanging garlands and popcorn bags). And per usual, it’s all insanely affordable.

Take a peek below at the various styles and patterns in the Papershop line. And scoop up your own at the store or on ikea.com.

The pretty and polka-dotted Framstalla gift wrap in assorted green patterns. The wrapping paper is $7.99 for a set of four, while the patterned rolls of tape are $6.99 for a set of four (also comes in black and pink).

I am not kidding when I say I’m thinking of blowing off this day (sorry boss) and going to Renton to pick up a few of these hanging paper creations. They’re too fun to pass up. AND! They’re $2.99 for a set of 8. Eight!

A certain editorial director here at Seattle mag is known to lose her mind over notebooks and stationery. Rightfully so. These colorfully bound beauties range from .99 cents to $1.99.

More gift wrap and bags. Candy Spelling’s gift-wrapping room isn’t looking so insane to me now…

The Overlagsen 27-piece party set is a mere $9.99 and includes a bounty of decor for your most important bashes, including six popcorn boxes, six invitation cards, six candy bags, six crowns and one garland. Plus, it comes in more than just the style you see below. Look for seven other patterns.
