The Rolling Huts beckon you to the Methow Valley

Where: The Methow Valley, in north-central Washington. Why: The charming trio of valley towns (Mazama, Winthrop and Twisp) are set in gorgeous scenery and feature miles of cross-country-skiing and mountain-biking trails. Don’t Miss:  Winthrop’s annual Hot Air Balloon Roundup Weekend (3/6–3/8), including the Balloon Night Glow (3/7 at dusk), when spectators can watch these giant floating lanterns illuminate the valley. Dare: To enter Winthrop’s Winter Triathlon (3/7), a triad of biking, skiing and running. Consider: Staying at Seattle architect Tom Kundig’s minimalist and mod Rolling Huts (5.5 miles east of Mazama on Hwy. 20; $80–$110)—a stylish and affordable take on camping that includes a microwave, refrigerator and Wi-Fi.
