(8/27 to 9/11, times vary) In his new solo show, Musician: A Portrait Project, Ernie Sapiro exhibits intimate photographs of a diverse range of local musicians, including Mike McCready, Trimpin and Star Anna. Here, he chats with co-producer Nancy Guppy about the show.

Must Laugh
Get Ready to Guffaw

Wednesday (9/2, 9 p.m.) If you need a break from Seattle’s unfailing earnestness, let your irreverent side fly free at Laugh Riot, the monthly alternative comedy showcase that takes place at Capitol Hill’s Chop Suey.

Must Go East
Peter Frampton and Cheap Trick Rock Out

Friday (8/28, 6:30 p.m.) Legendary guitarist Peter Frampton headlines the Marymoor Park Concert Series with rock band Cheap Trick. A retro rock treat!

Must Marvel
I Taught Myself at Greg Kucera Gallery

(Through 8/29, times vary) This potent survey of self-taught artists includes quilts by Loretta Bennett, paintings by Henry Darger, illustrations by Seattle’s own Gregory Blackstock, sculpture by Russell Childers and mixed media by Grandma Moses.

Must Do
Tiptoe Through Hues at The Seattle Floor Exhibit

(8/31 to 12/11, times vary) Veit Stratmann takes over the industrial-chic Suyama Space, transforming the floor into a grid filled with bright rectangles of color. Visitors tiptoeing through the hues turn static art into public performance. Opening reception 8/28. Artist talk 8/29 at noon.
