SAM Gallery’s annual Introductions show brings up-and-coming Northwest artists to light.
So you’re thinking that Georgia O’Keeffe painting at the Seattle Art Museum would look awesome in your living room (it matches the sofa!). Well, forget it. Even if you could afford to shop there, SAM’s collection is not for sale. You can, however, bring your art stimulus dollars to the SAM Gallery. Located just east of the downtown museum, the smaller, more digestible gallery is committed to showcasing established and emerging Northwest artists—and taking it even further, supporting their work through sales and an innovative rent-to-own program. This year’s annual Introductions show includes bright collages by Julie Alpert, abstract expressionist work by James Brown, biologic paintings by Robin M. Green, expansive illustrations by Emily Pothast, dreamy pastel oils by Kimberly Trowbridge and animal-infused drawings by Joey Veltkamp.
