ModKnobs–not your average doorknob
When Jeff and Mary LaCoste bought their Ballard home, the dark 1980s design of their new abode didn’t reflect the modern couple’s personality (Jeff owns graphic design firm Designheavy; Mary is an advertising copywriter). One sore spot in particular: the old doorknobs that didn’t match the interior fir doors installed during the remodel. Jeff tinkered until he found the perfect round object to match their new aesthetic: a hockey puck. Thus ModKnobs were born. With solid forged brass hardware, some are made out of kids’ training-sized pucks (an easy gripping texture) and others are composed of paperstone. ModKnobs come in an array of bright colors and four styles, including the slightly off-center puck doorknob for a slightly off-kilter approach to a very ordinary object. $110–$130, available at modknobs.com.
