Theater renovations for everyone! Seattle’s Pacific Science Center just announced that it will close its Boeing IMAX Theater on January 4 in order to revamp it with new technology that GeekWire reports will be “the world’s most advanced digital projection system designed specifically for giant IMAX screens.” The Boeing IMAX will reopen in May. PSC is also asking for donations for the renovation. Find out more here.

UPDATE: We received word that Crystal Mountain has cancelled its Pineapple Shakedown. Despite a fairly un-snowy ski season thus far, Crystal Mountain will open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for what it’s calling a “Pineapple Shakedown.” The event lets skiers sneak in a few quick trips down the mountain before the next Pineapple Express (a weather system that generates snow, but melts quickly) blows into town on Sunday.

Want to live in South Lake Union? There’s a new pair of residential towers planned for the area, KING 5 reports. The 24-story buildings at 425 Fairview Avenue would house 430 residences, but no word on whether they’ll be rental apartments or condos for sale.

If you’re looking to avoid car break-ins, don’t park your vehicle in parts of downtown and Capitol Hill. According to MyNorthwest.com, a new SeaStat report from the Seattle Police Department says that “of 1,043 car prowls in the city between November 16 and December 13, 30 percent happened in the 1.6 square mile area that includes the downtown core and Capitol Hill.”

More SPD: Seattle police officers will be sporting a new uniform come March 2015. The Seattle Times reports the outfit will consist of solid navy-blue pants and shirts, will be made up of less wool and will be machine washable.
