Surprise, surprise. In early August, three new restaurants are opening in the hottest foodie neighborhoods: Ballard, Belltown and Capitol Hill. In fact, if you need to escape the soaring sounds of Seafair this weekend, you can duck into Little Oddfellows or Orfeo, which will both open on Saturday, August 1. Here’s what you need to know:

Little Oddfellows, Capitol Hill

Little Oddfellows will make its debut on Aug. 1 inside the Elliott Bay Book Company on Capitol Hill, replacing the Elliott Bay Cafe. The menu will include baked goods and desserts, coffee and espresso from Caffe Vita, sandwiches, grain salads, quiches, and housemade juices and scratch sodas. Yes, beer and wine will also be available. The new restaurant – the seventh from Linda Derschang – is replacing the longstanding cafe, which, according to the Capitol Hill Seattle blog, did not renew its lease in order to pursue other projects. Little Oddfellows will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday -Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday-Saturday. 1521 10th Ave., Seattle. www.thederschanggroup.com.

Orfeo, Belltown

Owners Kevin and Terresa Davis of Steelhead Diner and Blueacre Seafood will open their third restaurant, Orfeo, on Aug. 1 inside the historic Army Building. Instead of seafood, the cuisine at Orfeo will focus on seasonal, land-based, Northwest-centric food and technique using a custom, Spanish-designed Woodstone Josper, a charcoal burning oven with a natural convection that circulates smoke around the food, cooking inside of it. Think pizza, roasted meats and vegetables. Hours to be announced. 2107 Third Ave., Seattle. http://orfeorestaurant.com.

Macleod’s Fish & Chips, Ballard

Slated to open within the first two weeks of August, this 28-counter service resto has some big names behind it – the folks from Stoneburner, Bastille Cafe & Bar and Macleod’s Scottish Pub. Poquitos’ executive chef Manny Arce developed the menu and sourced the fish purveyors. In other words, certified, sustainable long-line caught wild Pacific cod, organic fries, and, yes, mushy peas. Also on the menu: fish tacos, shepherd’s pie, clam chowder and Scottish beer on draft. If you’re drinking next door at Macleod’s Scottish Pub, you’ll be able to order from the full menu, and vice versa. Bless the Queen. 5206 Ballard Ave NW. Hours will be 4-10 p.m. on weeknights; until midnight on weekend nights. http://macleodsballard.com.
