This just in on the food-truck front: The Downtown Seattle Association and the Metropolitan Improvement District have decided to expand the popular Thursday food truck pod in Westlake Park to a daily presence. Beginning today, you’ll be able to take your pick from three different rigs, with more trucks expected to join in on the pod fun as it increases in visibility. The two organizations had initially launched the three-truck rotation in the downtown park every Thursday as an effort to enhance public spaces. (If you’ve sauntered through the park lately, you’ll see colorful new tables and chairs, plus several PingPong tables.)

“Street food is great for building the urban fabric. It gives people reasons to come outside to mingle and enjoy the wonderful weather we have here in the Pacific Northwest,” says Amy Novak, the Westlake pod manager. “The trucks engage the pedestrians and foster a greater sense of community.”

The current food truck schedule for Westlake Park, which will share a rotation with the Second Avenue and Pike Street pod, includes wheeled favorites like Marination, Napkin Friends, Wicked Pies, Falafel Salam and Bake My Day. For updated info, visit downtownseattle.com/foodtruck.
