A Big Week for Restaurant Openings: Roux, Juice Box, an Opening Date for Liam's, More
Several restaurants we've been eagerly anticipating are opening just in the nick of time for the big holiday eating-out season.
First up, Juice Box, the cult fave juicery that's outgrown its pop-up status and now has its own darling home on 12th Avenue (between Pike and Pine). You'll recall it's owned by two of our 2013 Tastemakers, Kari Brunson and Brandon Myett. Along with veggie juices (opt for yours with fresh turmeric root!), there are healthy soups and crunchy-healthy salads at lunchtime that sound quite good (full menu's here.)
Thierry Rautureau has finally gone public with details about his new restaurant, Loulay. Opening in early December in the former Alvin Goldfarb space inside the Sheraton Hotel, Loulay sounds like an amalgamation of Rautureau's former haute cuisine destination, Rover's, which closed last spring, and his current corner bistro in Madison Valley, Luc. Rebekah Denn has more.
Perhaps the restaurant Seattle's waited the longest to open (ever?), Roux threw open its doors yesterday. Located halfway up Fremont Avenue in the old Buckaroo Tavern space, it's owned by Where Ya At, Matt?'s Matthew Lewis, and like the truck, the restaurant has the French-Creole menu with frogs legs, shrimp and grits, fried rabbit, collards and jumbalaya. It's open nightly.
A handful of new restaurants at University Village are opening in the next week or so. News just came today that Eureka!, specializing in "American Craft"--food, beer and spirits--will open Monday. The chain does burgers with, fries, sandwiches, etc.
