Matt Dillon's The Corson Building Classes

If you are one of the thousands of fans of Chef Matt Dillon, The Corson Building restaurant and the small urban farm that encircles it, here’s a chance to learn how Dillon does it, based on the garden’s natural seasons. A seven-month gardening and cooking series with Dillon and organic Master Gardener and NPR personality Willi Galloway starts April 14 at the restaurant.

From setting seeds into the soil to making wonderful meals with the food that grows from those seeds, the classes will be full of practical strategies, natural thrift, and hands-on gardening. Cooking lessons from Dillon will teach you how to craft a meal with vegetables picked right outside your kitchen door. Dillon will also teach canning, drying and preserving methods, and how to use the pantry to make harvest meals even tastier.

It all takes place at The Corson Building, 5609 Corson Avenue South in Georgetown, starting Wednesday, April 14. Classes are held once a month from 6-9 pm on Wednesdays, with a final harvest celebration/preserving class on Saturday, October 9. Class size is 15 students and the cost of the entire series is $400 per person, and includes free admission to The Corson Building’s annual Cider Press in October. To register, email info@thecorsonbuilding.com or call (206) 762- 3330.
