Weekly Must List: July 29 - August 4, 2010

Our top To-Do's for the week ahead

Weekly Must List
July 29 - August 4, 2010

MUST ROCK
The Not-Its!
7/29 & 7/30 (Thursday & Friday)
- Rock concerts don’t usually feature songs about bath time or odes to sharing toys, but Seattle-based kiddie band the Not-Its pump some bass while singing about fun (“Come Play at Our House”) and quirky (the boppy waking-up song “Wompa Weeda”) childhood experiences for their youthful, devoted groupies. Extra perk: The band (a compilation of former rockers turned cool parents) is as adult-savvy as it is kid-friendly. Later, Barney. Free. 7/29, 12:00 p.m. City Hall, 600 Fourth Avenue, Downtown. 7/30, 6:30 p.m. Magnuson Park Ampitheater, 7400 Sand Point Way NE, near the dog park. www.wearethenot-its.com

MUST IMPROVISE
14/48: The World’s Quickest Theater Festival
7/30 & 7/31 (Friday & Saturday)
- Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind theater festival, where “impromptu” takes on a whole new meaning. This year’s roster includes artists such as Stephanie Timm (New Century Theatre Company), Erin Stewart (Seattle Rep), Paul Budraitis (On the Boards), and Brandon Whitehead (ACT). $20 online, $25 at the door. 8:00 and 10:30 p.m. Theatre Off Jackson, 409 Seventh Ave. S. www.brownpapertickets.com
