Food News: Marination Station to Open, Plus Pie!

It's no secret that we here at Seattle Mag are huge fans of Marination Mobile; we put them on the cover of last year's Best Restaurants issue, after all.

So imagine our excitement when we found out that Roz Edison and Kamala Saxton are setting up a stationary shop to sling their Korean-Hawaiian vittles which they're calling (what else?) Marination Station, in the Harvard Market in April (on the Harvard side of building housing QFC and Bartell Drugs on Pike and Broadway). Saxton told me that the Harvard Market space was irresistable not just for its heart-of-Pike/Pine locale but also because of the 200 free parking spaces (a serious rarity on the Hill), which will make it a no-brainer for diners to drop in for lunch and dinner. There will be space for 10 inside, and another dozen or so outside.

Along with a menu of their greatest hits—kimchi quesadillas, Spam sliders and the like—the ladies are working on a few new menu items they're not quite ready to divulge. But we do know they’ll serve beer and wine. 

And there's more: Back when Nancy Leson broke the news about Maria Hines's plans for her second restaurant, dubbed the Golden Beetle, the location hadn't been nailed down yet. Now we know that Hines has taken over the old Market Street Grill space in Ballard. I've got a message into Hines for more details on the restaurant (I'm hoping to see what's on the menu and get an opening date) and I'll post again when I hear back.

Finally, a new pie shop, called Pie, is opening in Fremont very soon. The specialty is hand-held meat, veggie and sweet pies, and they're serving Bluebird ice cream! Plus, late-night hours on the weekends. Yum.
