Food News: Restaurant Openings Aplenty: Revel, High 5 Pie, More

On Wednesday, we heard that Revel, the new Korean street-eats place from the owners/chefs at Joule, is opening today! And that Scott Staples' Uneeda Burger will open in a week or so. That's great news for Fremonters.

But that's just for starters. On the pie front, Dani Cone (of Fuel Coffee and High 5 Pie fame) is opening her first dedicated High 5 Pie shop in the Trace Lofts (at 12th and Madison on Capitol Hill) on New Year's Eve. *And the ladies behind the hand-held pie shop coming to Fremont, called (what else?) Pie, still don't have an opening date, but I just got a sneak at some of the fillings: curried veggie delight, huevos rancheros, salted caramel apple and classic lemon meringue.

I'm looking forward to trying Ballard's latest chow haunt, 5 Corner Market, mostly because chef Sam Crannell used to cook at Quinn’s. It's a big place, with seating for 125, and it's family friendly. The menu is eclectic, with smoked chicken thighs with corn bread salad, a grilled Caesar salad, shortribs with mushrooms over pappardelle, and roasted mussels with harrissa all sharing menu space (and everything's between $5 and $22, except for the $27 NY strip).

The Chelsea Deli, down in my neck-o-the-woods, has opened! We stopped into the roomy Columbia City spot for the chicken thigh banh mi last weekend, and let me tell you, it was awe.some. Dave Harris, the owner, is the guy who dreamed up so many of the sandwiches you crave from the Other Coast. So if you're smart, you'll get in there for a sandwich.

Finally, you already know that Tom Douglas is opening a second Dahlia Bakery and another Serious Pie in South Lake Union, right? Well, this just in: Expect the opening of both joints on January 10th.
