Fashion & Style Friday: Swinging by Vu
It’s official. I’m too old for the rumpled yet cool college sweatpants and t-shirt look. It’s okay, though, because now I get to shop at boutiques like Vu where I can find clothes that are stylish enough for the office or an evening out. This bright and well-edited shop specializes in high-end vintage clothes ranging from the 1920’s to almost modern-day. From a lightweight Escada wool shirt ($85) to a Chanel Creations coat ($995), Vu's prices reflect the quality and condition of the shop's inventory. Owner Huan Vu subtly tailors many of the pieces to modernize the fits himself (think: shorter hemlines and sleeves). Vu re-imagined the neckline on the Saspareo dress ($245, pictured above) which enhances its 1960‘s London-style vibe. More spring clothes (breezy skirts and blouses) were recently added and look for summer clothes to appear mid-March. Many of these are investment pieces, but the quality fabrics and uniqueness make it worth every penny. Who knows, this grownup thing might not be so bad after all!
