There are 10 million cool things to do in Seattle this weekend (Queen Anne sidewalk sale, Ballard SeafoodFest, Sub Pop's Jubilee, West Seattle Summer Fest), including Urban Craft Uprising, an artisan-tastic event at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.

If you've ever wanted to watch music-playing humans teathered (legally) to the top of the Space Needle, now is your chance. KEXP and Sub Pop, the local record label with 20-plus years under its belt, have partnered for a Silver Jubilee broadcast that will feature the members of the Seattle band Mudhoney rocking out in a sky-high fashion atop the Needle. At 5 p.m. today, if you're near the Space Needle, look up. If not, go to kexp.org for a live feed of the event.

Jason Stratton’s proven his finesse with the fine foods of Italy's Piedmont region at the beloved Spinasse. And Artusi, Spinasse's adjoining aperitivo bar, has steadily developed into a worthwhile dining destination in its own right.

Crosscut Courage Awards Seattle magazine
Our friends over at Crosscut, Seattle's nonprofit, independant online news organization that has brilliant coverage on the mayoral race and other civic-related items, has launched its first-ever Courage Awards. And it's looking for nominees. Here's the gist:

If you have tickets, you're psyched, because Nordstrom's Designer Preview is tonight, which means that Erdem and Dries Van Noten will be gracing the runway, alongside Gucci and Oscar de la Renta. If you didn't get tickets, no worries, we'll have a recap for you, hopefully, tomorrow. Here's a sneak peek at what's in store:

Big haps over at the downtown Seattle Barneys this week. Last night's remodel party garnered bucks for the Parkinson's Project (oh, and I got to drape myself in Hoorsenbuhs, my current obsession) and this morning's media breakie with creative ambassador-at-large, Simon Doonan, and fashion director, Tomoko Ogura, offered insight into what the New York-based retailer is into for fall in terms of new designers and trends.

Ballard SeafoodFest 2013 Seattle magazine
Must Get CrabbyBallard SeafoodFest(7/13 to 7/14, times vary) — Celebrate crustaceans, mollusks and more at the 39th Annual Ballard SeafoodFest, a kid-friendly throwdown that features boatloads of tasty fishes, two stages of live music—including awesome bands Kithkin, Star Anna and Bobby Bare Jr.—a Ballard-based brew bonanza and, yes, a lutefisk eating contest.

Drinking with robots AJ Rathbun Seattle magazine
I’m a firm believer in having a drink for every occasion, and for creating drinks to celebrate certain milestones like movie releases, sporting team victories and more. Because of that, I’ve decided that every good drinker in Seattle needs to have cocktails this week that would go nicely if you were hanging out with robots, reading about robots or watching the awesome new movie Pacific Rim, which pits giant robots against giant monsters and comes out on Friday, July 12.

Hannah Raskin Yelp Help Seattle magazine
To many restaurateurs, Yelp is a nasty four-letter word. But to tons of devoted Yelpers, it’s a thriving community, a fun forum to air beefs and shout out spots that shine. There’s no denying its power, so why not make Yelp even better by dishing out advice on the best way to write these citizen reviews? That’s exactly what former Seattle Weekly critic Hanna Raskin has done in a brand-new ebook called Yelp Help.

In addition to all the fun festival-appropriate activities (street food, bouncy houses for the kids, great music and beer gardens), the West Seattle Summer Fest (July 12-14) also features an amazing sidewalk sale. Local businesses save stuff up all year round to blow out during this three-day long event, and the deals are epic—one year I got seven pairs of shoes from Clementine for $90! Here’s a run down of what I know so far. Trust me, between the stores and the kiosks that fill the street, Summer Fest is awesome shopping.

Bertha, the hulking, 7,000-ton earth-drilling machine that's expected to start boring a tunnel to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct any day now, is getting loads of attention lately. (During a recent editorial meeting, we all had a good debate on whether or not we'll be able to feel the digging from our SoDo offices. I say yes. We'll keep you posted on that front.)

Macklemore Lady Washington Seattle video Seattle magazine
We received a fax (really) the other day alerting us to this slightly weird, but pretty hilarious video of Macklemore touting the Lady Washington tall ship, which was where he filmed parts of his Can't Hold Us music video. My fave part? Around 0:45 when he says "I was a baby pirate. A little urban baby pirate doin' my thing up on there." Also, it smells like "salt and dolphins."

David Byrne's eyes
I love, love, love this dreamy song by the one and only Jherek Bischoff, the Seattle musician/composer who layered each instrument one-by-one on his richly textured new album, Composed. For this song, "Eyes," Bischoff asked one of his musical heroes, David Byrne, to sing the vocal line and he said yes (!). Just like they say on reality tv: America, dreams really do come true.   Here's the just-released video for the song, in which both David and Jherek's peepers make an appearance.

Since many of you probably lived it up over the holiday weekend with friends, family and new friends, it’s the ideal time to have a few protein-laden, vitamin C-filled day-after drinks ready in case you over indulged and need to take a little of the edge off. Not that I’m proposing you drink away a day, of course, just that the below are handy hangover remedies if you feel absolutely awful.
