Fremont’s newest casual Korean dining spot, Revel, starts its brunch program this Saturday. From what we're hearing, the brunch menu is taking a nod from chefs Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi's Asian-inspired dinner menu (which features noodles; dumplings; salads; rice dishes; etc.). Head to Fremont this weekend to find sweet and savory pancakes, sandwiches and Kimchi Bloody Marys. Here's the full press release for more details:

Local 360, a Melrose Market-esque collection of shops anchored by a restaurant, is slowly, bit-by-bit opening in the former Flying Fish space in Belltown. Right now the coffee bar is open, and soon (in the next couple of weeks, I'm told) they'll add breakfast and lunch. The butcher and cheese counters will follow in February.

Breakfast sets the metabolic pace for the rest of the day.  A good one contains carbohydrate, protein, fat and fiber.  All of the nutrient groups.  Don't leave one out.  Put some nuts or granola and a little butter on a warm bowl of steel cut oats and you've got it all.  Printable recipe here.

Tis’ the season for shopping (or in my case just wandering the men’s department trying to find a gift for the guy who declared he just wanted socks for Christmas, sigh) and the holiday sales and fests are in full swing this weekend, and the weeks beyond. Stay tuned each Friday as we highlight the best in holiday shopping, below I’ve plucked this week’s favorite fests, my current new jewelry obsession—and a great way to get a little R&R during the fray:

We’re busy putting our February beauty feature to bed, so I’ve got beauty on the brain this week, further helped by the great holiday specials and new treatments stuffing my inbox. But never fear shoppers, there is a golden nugget for you as well this week. Happy blissful (and apparently very, very wet) weekend:

TV news gets a lot of bad press, so it's nice to see really good work get recognized. KING 5 investigative reporter Susannah Frame, whom we singled out as one of Seattle's Most Influential people in our November issue, has received the broadcasting equivalent of a Pulitzer Prize for her ongoing "Waste on the Water" series that uncovered questionable spending practices at Washington State Ferries.

If you find yourself downtown early next week finishing up your shopping, be sure to keep your eye out for the man of the hour, St. Nicholas himself. The Sorrento Santa will be making his annual rounds of the city on the Candy Cane Cruise, checking up on who’s been naughty and nice and handing out everyone’s favorite Christmas treat while he’s at it (1,000 of which will be made even sweeter with Hunt Club discounts).

On Wednesday, we heard that Revel, the new Korean street-eats place from the owners/chefs at Joule, is opening today! And that Scott Staples' Uneeda Burger will open in a week or so. That's great news for Fremonters.
