Peasant memories:  When California native Gei Chan was in fashion school in the Bay Area in the late ’60s, she had no idea that her inherent relaxed design inclination would have a lasting impact on the world of style. Her use of mixed patterns and lightweight upholstery fabrics—coupled with empire waists and maxi dresses of the hippie zeitgeist—defined the look that is now known as boho chic. “Fashion was more conservative back then,” Chan says.

Their body care collection includes soaps made with a local microbrew (good for a nice, foamy lather) and facial masks made with clay and charcoal. Essential oil blends (such as oakmoss and whiskey) lightly scent these smartly packaged products.

A few weeks ago I had my aura and past lives read by parfumeur and clairvoyant Yosh at Barneys (apparently I have a lovely champagne blush color around me and was a Mayan shaman in a past life, but I bet she says that to all the girls) and next week, Tuesday, January 14, the AstroTwins, Tali and Ophira Edut, will be at the downtown Nordstrom from 6 to 8 p.m.

Amsterdam-based men’s wear shop Suitsupply, has opened downtown on Fifth Avenue, in a 3,800 square foot space once home to Z Gallerie and perhaps an art gallery or two. The Seattle store is Suitsupply’s tenth stateside shop, joining other outposts in New York City, Atlanta and Denver.
