Brimmer & Heeltap interview with Jen Doak Mike Whisenhunt
One of the restaurants I review for the June issue is Brimmer & Heeltap. I’ve known proprietress Jen Doak for years, back when she managed The Tasting Room in Post Alley. It’s been fun to watch her career grow.

Sitka & Spruce's Álvaro Candela new chef at The Saint
Taco lovers, listen up. Two words why you need to get to The Saint as soon as possible: Álvaro Candela. He's the guy behind the wildly popular Monday taco nights at Matt Dillon's Sitka & Spruce that ended last month when Candela accepted the job as executive chef at Capitol Hill's "tequila salvation" on the corner of Olive and Howell.

La Bodega
For the June issue of Seattle Magazine I reviewed La Bodega, which is easily one of my favorite write-ups I’ve done since taking over the role of Food and Dining Editor back in February. Professionally, the story behind La Bodega is one of passion, which always makes for a good read. Personally, I’ve known owner Manu Alfau since he worked at Tavolata way back when.

And if you’ve never been, this is your last chance to check it out, which you should, because it’s sort of a spectacle.

After more than a decade, chef John Sundstrom is back to opening restaurants, and he’s going big! Not only is he moving his quaint little Capitol Hill restaurant Lark to bigger digs, he’s launching two new projects — all under the same roof. Fortunately for the Capitol Hill contingent, he’s staying close to home, heading to the Central Agency Building next to IHOP at 952 E. Seneca St.

Bell + Whete opening in Belltown summer 2014
The team behind Local 360 is opening another restaurant in Belltown this summer called Bell + Whete (“wheat”). It’s going into the ground floor of the 206 Bell Apartments, near the corner of 2nd and Bell, sometime this summer (July is the goal). Here are 5 ways you can still celebrate, whether you just want a cheap pint or a smorgasbord of bacon to wash it all down with. If you miss out on beer week, you'll have to wait until the next alcohol-fueled holiday: summer.  Elysian Fields

At long last, Ethan Stowell’s new fish and chips joint, Chippy’s, is open for business on Ballard Avenue. It’s located directly next door to his other restaurant, Staple & Fancy, in the former Dutch Bike Co. space inside the Kolstrand Building (also home to Walrus and the Carpenter and Barnacle).
