Velouria, Ballard’s stalwart supporter of local and indie designers is joining the effort to revitalize Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square and plans to open in the new Stadium Place building on September 1 next to the second location of Cone & Steiner, also reportedly opening in the building.
The Ballard shop will be open until late July/early August and we’ll report back on any grand opening news we receive.

As Seattle Magazine's editor at large, I get to do the dirty jobs sometimes. Like this week, I'm up in the Canadian Rockies. We came up from Seattle to Vancouver then on to Banff via a Canadian sightseeing train called the Rocky Mountaineer: think domes, cars and gourmet food while cruising on rails through the wilderness. It was a smooth and splendid ride. I'm also spending time in Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise because, well, someone has to do it.

After more than a decade, chef John Sundstrom is back to opening restaurants, and he’s going big!
Not only is he moving his quaint little Capitol Hill restaurant Lark to bigger digs, he’s launching two new projects — all under the same roof.
Fortunately for the Capitol Hill contingent, he’s staying close to home, heading to the Central Agency Building next to IHOP at 952 E. Seneca St.
