Princess Bride Quote Along
Friday–Sunday (12/16–12/18)
Fans of cult-classic movie The Princess Bride can quote Inigo Montoya by heart (“Prepare to die!”). Now, SIFF offers the chance for groupies to take their skills to the big screen. As the film rolls, the audience recites the movie’s best-loved lines—all while waving toy swords given out at the door. 12/16–12/18. Times vary. $7–$12. Grand Opening of The Royal Room

Friday–Monday (12/16–12/19) Seattle keyboardist, composer and experimental jazz fixture Wayne Horvitz has never shied away from mixing things up—and now he’s bringing a fresh idea to the local music scene. Partnering with restaurateurs Steve Freeborn and Tia Matthies (owners of OK Hotel and Rendezvous, among others) he’s created The Royal Room, a new music venue, restaurant, bar and “project room.” Get thee to Columbia City for the opening weekend kickoff festivities, which include Robin Holcomb, Soul Food Piñata, Today! and the Yada Yada Blues Band, and check the website for future shows.
