Food News: Scoop on Manhattan Drug, the Social Coming Soon to Capitol Hill
Laura Olson is on fire: She's opened Po Dog and Grim's on Capitol Hill, and a bar called Detention (in what used to be the second Po Dog) in the U-District in just the last two years. But Olson and fiancé, architect Chris Pardo, aren't slowing down quite yet.
This fall they'll open the Social, a huge new LBGT nightclub with a 3,500 square foot dance floor and Mexican-Asian tapas restaurant/lounge in a partnership with Alex Garcia and Shanon Thorson (check out thesocialseattle.com for updates on the club).
But I'm most excited for the opening of Manhattan Drug, the restaurant and bar that the couple are opening in November in a space that they're keeping a secret (for now). Pardo boldly stated that Manhattan Drug will serve, "the best hamburger in Seattle, plus steaks and multiple macaroni and cheeses." They'll even be grinding the meat to order!
"We traveled throughout the country taste-testing burgers in LA, Chicago, Portland, Las Vegas, Vancouver BC and New Orlean," said Pardo. Tasty research.
About the interior (schematic pictured above): "It's designed in a Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas meets Gangs of New York style. Old steakhouse with some unique early century drugstore motif." Check back to find out the exact locations in a week or so.
