DIY Valentine’s Day Cards from Assemble
With the help of Emily Grosse, co-owner of crafting studio Assemble on Phinney Ridge (7406 Greenwood Ave. N., assembleshop.com), we present simple tips on creating great-looking, affordable, easy, non-cheesy cards. The best part? The kids do most of the work. If you’d rather start under Grosse’s watchful eye—and add fancy details like stitching—Assemble is offering valentine card workshops on Feb. 5 and 12 (2–3 p.m.). Sunday (2/6) – Curtis Steiner’s Fabulously , painfully hip, one of a kind card/calligraphy/jewelry/“ephemera” (think all that antique stuff like opera glasses, hair combs, letter openers and stuff you come across in your cool rich uncle’s attic) shop closes for good on February 6, Superbowl Sunday as the building owner makes way for an elevator shaft—er progress.  2/4–2/13 After a nine-year hiatus, Pacific Northwest Ballet is bringing back this beloved story based on the original fairy tale by Charles Perrault. Choreographed by founding artistic director Kent Stowell in 1993, this version rejects the tragicomic elements of other interpretations and instead focuses on the romantic essence of the narrative.
