[DRAMA] A song-filled play about a Scottish regiment’s involvement in the Iraq War turns out to be one of the most successful ideas in recent theatrical history. Based on interviews conducted by writer Gregory Burke, this National Theatre of Scotland production has won countless critical accolades and 22 awards internationally. The story follows the Black Watch regiment to the front lines of Iraq in 2004, and the soldiers’ return to hometown bars. Using evocative Scottish songs and artful choreography, the play beautifully reveals what the war on terror feels like on a personal level, as well as the struggles of returning home.
