Esperanza Spalding
Relying on—but refusing to be bound by—her strong roots in jazz, Portland native Esperanza Spalding is on an upward trajectory. Having earned a 2011 Grammy for Best New Artist (beating out Bieber!), the standing bass player/singer/composer released a new album, Radio Music Society, in March, which reveals her impressive range of musical influences, including pop, Brazilian, hip-hop and classic jazz.
8 p.m. $30–$42. Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine St.; 206.682.1414; stgpresents.org
