George Saunders
[FICTION] A psychotic antiques dealer. A suicidal cancer patient. A lonely and delusional child. These are just a few of the comically sad characters featured in award-winning writer George Saunders’ work. In the vein of American writers such as Mark Twain and Kurt Vonnegut, Saunders tells his stories with inventive wit and searing insight, but in a style that is markedly original. His new short-story collection, Tenth of December, treats violence and despair with Saunders’ trademark brand of humor—sometimes playful, sometimes black, but always deft.
