PechaKucha: STORY
Local architecture and design magazine ARCADE hosts the lastest local installment of the internationally popular “PechaKucha.” Originated by architects living in Tokyo, PechaKucha is what happens when you combine the efficiency of Power Point with visual inspiration and creative thinking. Presenters are invited to deliver separate “lectures” on one guiding theme. The challenge: the lectures are presented via 20 slides, displayed for only 20 seconds each. A lively mix of locals will broach the theme of “story,” including Charles Mudede (The Stranger), Manny Chao (Georgetown Brewing) and our own arts and culture editor Brangien Davis.

Friends of the Seattle Public Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Seattle Public Library are at it again with their “Mini” Book Sale this weekend. Approximately 25,000 books, DVDS are up for grabs at bargain prices with all proceeds benefitting the Seattle Public Libraries. And save the date for the “Big” sale, starting September 12.

Seattle Pride Parade
Don your brightest, most festive raincoats, Pride Parade is taking over downtown Seattle, come rain or shine; and unfortunately the weather predictions favor the former. We wouldn’t worry too much, as this annual celebration of diversity, daring to be who you are–and dancing–is too bright to be rained out.
