Cowl neck sweater with patterned bikini. Sweater made from vintage knit tablecloth, bikini, spandex/lycra vintage knit.

Entry Category: Student Designer, studying at The Art Institute of Seattle

Designer Name: Darcie Gray

Line: Darcie Gray, “In the City” collection

Branding Statement/ Bio info:

Inspired by fashion on the street as well as looks from the past, I take a new approach to creating timeless pieces playing with contrast, color and textured fabrics to create a unique and original look for the young, sophisticated, urban women.

About the collection:

In the City is a collection for the young, sophisticated, urban woman who enjoys life’s adventures, excitement and entertainment.  The collection - inspired by the vintage lady-like trend - is designed to include ready to wear pieces for most occasions.  Whether it’s a day at the office or visiting a Seattle street market, the pieces in the collection will stand out among the crowds for it’s unique interpretations of vintage classics like the military trench coat, or the herringbone and faux leather jacket paired with the sailor trouser short or vintage floral print skirt.

In a competitive fashion market like the one we see today, I would manufacture this line thinking significantly about the materials used and ensuring a high standard of quality and production.  The line would be priced in the mid range and it would be introduced first to the market through online retailers.
