Sanders 6: "Harina" chiffon shirt; Straight fitted Cole legging with rose lace detailing and leather cuff, side zipper at ankle.

Entry Category:  Student Designer, studying at New York Fashion Academy

Designer Name: Heather Sanders

Line: tUTU + bETZ (pronounced: two two and bets)

Branding Statement/ Bio info:

tUTU + bETZ is a modern lifestyle brand seeking to narrow the gap between women’s designer and contemporary fashions. Heather Sanders has incorporated original designs using various blends of silk, cotton, and leather in woven, knit and novelty fabrics. The line seamlessly blends masculine and feminine silhouettes keeping trend conscious yet timeless styles.

My line explained:

I believe people love fashion for many reasons, but one in particular is about identity and purpose: people attempt to show outwardly who they are on the inside. Travel allows arrivals to many, many places. tUTU + bETZ  are clothes that don’t limit where a girl can go, but welcomes possibilities for adventure…

You may see a tUTU + bETZ customer sitting in a local bookstore in an eclectic neighborhood perusing first editions on a rainy day; or at an underground industry party. You may sit next to her on the metro, taxi, or plane as she dashes off to her next destination. She lives in one or several urban locations. She is between the ages 18-45. She is in a creative field of work that allows her to show her personal style. She appreciates approachable luxury, values all things vintage and can afford to spend a little extra on unique pieces that can pair with other clothes in her wardrobe. One thing is certain; this laid back beauty stands out in a sea of glammed out girls and all grown up hipsters.

tUTU + bETZ is a mix of structure and ease. It lends a touch of toughness to a girl who went through her grandmother’s closet and came out with a deft mix of whimsy sophistication and innovation with lots of play on contrasts. The tUTU + bETZ  customer romps around town in soft washed silks and jersey wools that are interrupted by leather details and sewn in structured silhouettes. Floaty printed shift dresses loose bloomer shorts tUTU + bETZ may be worn by someone who inspires others to be themselves, to constantly evolve within their own personal style, and most importantly, takes notes from her grandmother…

Travel more. Pack less. tUTU + bETZ

Differentiating Factor:

Separates that are cohesive with other items in your wardrobe; can be layered with each other or other garments vintage or new; fabrics that aren’t usually paired together in one garment.

Meets my markets needs:

These pieces are separates making them easy to mix, match and layer with each other or pieces in their closet already. Women who are stylish and trendy yet have an understanding of classic fit and construction don’t always want to conform to a fad. These pieces have a throwback allure referencing vintage silhouettes while keeping with current styles. The colors are timeless.

Labels Price Point:

Silks ($160-$340)
