Behind the Scenes of the Mariners' Turn Back the Clock Night Photo Shoot
| May 2014
Every year, the Mariners go old school, rolling back the clock to a bygone era for Turn Back the Clock Night at Safeco Field. This year’s time travel happens on Saturday, May 24, and the vintage inspiration is Starsky & Hutch, a quintessential television show of the late 1970s. For the game against the Houston Astros, teams will don retro 1979 uniforms, which for the M’s means a return of the classic trident logo. As part of the festivities, the first 20,000 fans will receive a commemorative poster with catcher Mike Zunino as Starsky (originally played by Paul Michael Glaser) and shortstop Brad Miller as Hutch (originally played by David Soul), decked out in ’70s style in front of a meticulously restored Ford Gran Torino, the make and model driven by the crime-fighting duo in the show. Check out these behind-the-scenes shots of the players and the Seattle mag team during the photo shoot for the poster, and visit Inside Seattle on Facebook for the full album. Tickets for the 7:10 p.m. game are available at mariners.com.
