Olivia Dress: Fully lined dress with full pleated skirt and pleated paper bag waist detail with an open back and high-low hem. Contrast coral lining and trim. Made from ikat silk taffeta.

Entry Category: Student Designer, studying at Seattle Central Community College

Designer Name: Sondra Elizabeth Colburn

Line: Sondra Elizabeth

Branding Statement/ Bio Info:

Sondra Elizabeth for Spring 2013 is a line of dresses inspired by the ultra-feminine, yet structured silhouettes of fifties-era fashion. Vibrant colors and bold, sophisticated floral prints in silk and sateen fabrics add a playful element to looks that are chic for day or night. The dresses have fitted bodices and an emphasis at the natural waist to create an hourglass shape that is done in a new way, making vintage-inspired styles feel modern and young.

My customer is a young professional between the ages of 20-35. She loves go dancing and can often be found twirling as she walks whether she’s on her way to a fun party or while at home in her kitchen experimenting with new recipes. She is very witty and enjoys wearing clothing that is classic and elegant with a twist. She likes to wear things with fun details and prints that set her apart while still letting her personality show through.

The price range is from $300-450 retail depending on the garment and fabric choice. My designs would sell at high end department stores such as Nieman Marcus, Nordstrom and Bergdorf Goodman.

*Additional photos will be available June 11. Judges, please check back.
