Tyson Berry, 98070, Vashon Island
Vashon-Maury Island is the perfect balance between nature and affluence. It’s cheap and old enough to have regular people but still retains the beauty that is only found outside the city. The community is knit across income and ideology and you can pick up organic locally grown food anytime of year by stopping by any number of local grow ops. I’ve lived many places in Seattle, but I plan to stay on Vashon. Also you sleep great here.

Are you the face of your neighborhood? Back in January, we set out to photograph anyone from any Seattle neighborhood who was willing to pose in front of staff photographer Hayley Young's camera for our "What Your Zip Code Says About You" story in the March 2014 issue. The turnout was outstanding--more than 100 people showed up, camera-ready and primed to explain why they loved their 'hood. Here are their inspiring stories and photos.
