The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation hosted its first-ever Family Day on December 29 at its year-old visitor center on Lower Queen Anne. The day’s theme was “The Give Effect,” for which kids and their families were invited to participate in hands-on activities that explored the concept of giving and gratitude. The center’s Giving Tree held 250 wishes from children, teens and adults in need, offering yet another way for kids to learn the importance of giving over receiving.
