When you think “album cover pose,” you’re likely picturing the work of Northwest photographer Jini Dellaccio, who transitioned from shooting fashion models to rock musicians in the early 1960s, and went on to capture iconic images of rockers, such as The Wailers, The Sonics, Neil Young and The Who. This world-premiere documentary by British filmmaker Karen Whitehead, featuring a local crew that includes filmmaker John Jeffcoat (Outsourced) as cinematographer, traces the life and work of Dellaccio—now 95 and still going strong, as evidenced by a recent shoot of the Moondoggies—whose work blazed trails for both women photographers and the rock music aesthetic.
