Movers and Shakers. On Saturday night, sequins and shimmys were rampant on the dance floor during the sixth-annual Plymouth Housing Group’s “Seattle Dances” gala at Seattle’s Fremont Studios. Channeling “Dancing with the Stars,” the event paired a local celebrity from the business and civic world with a dancer from Century Ballroom – and together they took to the stage to raise money to eradicate homelessness in King County, The Puget Sound Business Journal said. The efforts didn’t go unnoticed, apparently, as the event raised nearly $450,000 for the cause.

Wearables Expanding. Today, much of the tech world will turn to San Francisco for the unveil of the Apple Watch, the newest product to launch in the “wearables” space. Comparable to The Microsoft Band, The Watch will feature less fitness-tracking capabilities, though can host third-party apps, The Puget Sound Business Journal said. The face will display a host of icons, much like the iPhone, making it another platform for emails, texts and notifications. While time will reveal how well the new device is perceived, it has the technological abilities to move far beyond the scope of a watch, acting as a platform in itself.

Pedestrian Street to Capitol Hill? Capitol Hill has long been exploring options to connect Cal Anderson Park to Seattle University that would benefit both businesses and pedestrians, Capitol Hill developer Jerry Everard said. Making the Pike/Pine block pedestrain-only has been up for consideration, specifically on the 10th and 11th avenue streets, The Capitol Hill Blog said. Research into this plan is making headway, as last week the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce recieved a $160,000 grant towards funding a study and community outreach to explore these “activated alleys.” The goal is to find common ground amongst businesses and pedestrians, while also calming traffic and pedestrian congestion in this highly populated area of Capitol Hill.

Garfield High State Champs. Last weekend, the Garfield boys basketball team took home the Class 3A state title in a 66-51 win against three-time defending champions, No.1 Rainier Beach. The Capitol Hill Blog said the win was a team effort, “It’s not about me, it’s not about one person or two people, it’s about Garfield basketball,” Coach Ed Haskins told The Seattle Times. Teamwork paid off on the court Saturday, for this team that preaches unity and personal responsibility. “What we can’t do along, we can do together,” Haskins said.

Sunshine to Stay. These blue hues and floral blooms aren’t going anywhere fast, KING 5 Meteorologist Lisa Van Cise said. Due to a ridge of high pressure, this stretch of sunshine in Western Washington will maintain these April-like temperatures into the week.
