>> On June 14, the Westin Seattle welcomed a sold-out crowd for the 15th annual Gilda’s Club Surviving in Style Luncheon & Fashion Show, with celebrity guest and cancer survivor Cynthia Nixon of Sex and the City. The afternoon’s models, all proud and radiant cancer survivors, were outfitted in garments designed by celebrated Seattle fashion designers, including Lizzie Parker, Trillium Custom Tailoring and 2012 Seamless in Seattle winner Christine Chaney.
>> The foundation’s annual celebrity golf and gala weekend was kicked into high gear on June 23 at the Meydenbauer Center during the 19th annual Detlef Schrempf Gala & Auction, where guests included local celebrities, sport stars and, of course, former NBA star Detlef Schrempf and his wife, Mari. Proceeds go to Rise n’ Shine and the Healing Center, which provides assistance for children and teens affected by AIDS.
>> The third annual Set the Table for SAM, benefitting the Seattle Art Museum, welcomed patrons to the Olympic Sculpture Park on June 29 for a casual dinner fete, where local artists and guests decorated their own tables, and various Seattle chefs catered the evening. Roving entertainers kept the pace lively, while DJ Aanshul supplied the tunes near Alexander Calder’s sculpture The Eagle. Eclectic and fun? You bet.
>> The 5th Avenue Theatre’s annual fundraiser, A Night at the 5th Gala, on June 16, welcomed guests to celebrate and bid big on one-of-a-kind live-auction items, including a paella class for eight prepared by yours truly and served by the theater’s senior management, all of which helped raise a rousing $525,000 for the theater’s education programs.
>> There was a doctor in the house on June 20—in fact, more than two hundred were assembled in the grand lobby of McCaw Hall during Seattle magazine’s Top Doctors Awards dinner. Honored were the 2012 top physicians, the 10-year “hall of fame” inductees and our area’s global health leaders, who were given special recognition. Delivering the evening’s keynote speech was Dr. Kim Allison, head of breast pathology at the University of Washington.
>> On June 26, area wedding vendors gathered for Seattle Bride’s Best of Bride 2012 Awards party at the Seattle Aquarium. In addition to a presentation revealing the best venues, services and industry professionals of the year, guests enjoyed aquarium exhibits, a cocktail reception and general merrymaking.
