>> On August 29, the second-annual Seamless in Seattle Fashion Show had the Seattle Art Museum in stitches when the best of Seattle fashion strutted its stuff while up-and-coming designers debuted their collections on the runway. Joining them were the winners of the 2012 Seamless competition who completed a live design challenge scrutinized by celebrity-judging panel a la Project Runway.
>> The Auction of Washington Wines Weekend celebrated its 25th year, pulling out all the stops from August 16-18, starting with the Picnic & Barrel Auction at Chateau Ste. Michelle on the 16th, followed on the 17th by eleven Winemaker Dinners hosted at various private estates throughout the Puget Sound area, and culminating on the 18th with a Gala, again on the grounds of Ste. Michelle. In all, a cool $2.1 million was raised to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital uncompensated care and the Viticulture and Enology Program at WA State University.
>> On September 6, The Shops at the Bravern in Bellevue once again celebrated Fashion’s Night Out with a red carpet reception at Neiman Marcus, plus participation by a various retailers, including Hermes, David Lawrence, Holly Zang Pearl Gallery, Jimmy Choo, John Howie Steak and Trophy Cupcakes. Diehard shoppers enjoyed fashion shows, wines and spirits and tasty tidbits and were serenaded by live music throughout the mall while scoping out the fall 2012 fashion lines.
>> On August 5 Safeco Field temporarily shifted its baseball focus while welcoming the Friends of Costco Guild for their 13th annual Children’s Golf Classic Kick-Off Party. The evening’s wine reception and dinner served as a lively pre-func to the August 6 tournaments that took place at various Golf Clubs, including Broadmoor, Washington National, Newcastle, Inglewood, Meridian Valley, The Plateau and Snoqualmie Ridge. Proceeds benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital uncompensated care.
>> Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) embraced DIFFA GLAM:Tablescapes on September 7 during an extravaganza celebrating wine, entertaining and design at Masins in Bellevue. Showcased were over-the-top table designs created by artists and stylists to represent auctioned wine dinners donated by top NW chefs and restaurants. Proceeds benefit the Seattle chapter of DIFFA.
