Following the grand tradition set by ye ol’ “12 Days of Christmas” carol, we’re winding up the holiday shopping season with a handy 12-day guide to the best locally-made gifts, from today’s foodie-filled post to the best stocking stuffers on December 23. If you are still on the hunt for gifts for teachers, mother-in-laws or maybe for hard-to-buy-for husbands who won’t say what they want outside of socks (was that too obvious I was really talking about my own problems? Probably huh?), stay tuned each workday as we dish out our favorite finds.

Without further ado, sing it with me now: On the first day of Christmas, my true foodie-loving friends gave to me….


Marination Mobile’s Nunya Sauce & Pickled Peppers

Confession: We picked up a jar of Marination’s new bottled sauce a few weeks back and proceeded to devour the entire jar over staff lunch (there may have even been licking utensils involved). Available at the big blue truck or at Delaurenti’s in Pike Place Market, the rich and flavorful Nunya and famous pickled jalapenos (both of which are used in their delicious tacos and quesadillas) will please both longtime Marination fans and newbies alike.

Update: Last Friday, Marination's truck parked outside our office was sampling deviled eggs made with their Nunya sauce--and they were killer. We grabbed a jar for and are officially making these a staple in our holiday party appetizer rotation. Here's the recipe:

Marination Holiday Deviled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs
Place 12 eggs on the bottom of a pot and cover with water 1 inch over the eggs. Bring water to boil. Turn off heat and cover pot for 12 min. Run cold water over eggs for 2 -3 min. Peel, cut eggs in half and set aside yolks.

Add to food processer:
8 tbsp Nunya Sauce         
4 tbsp Mayonnaise
12 egg cooked yolks

Blend until smooth add a few drops of water to help it along if necessary. Spoon mixture into a pastry bag or Ziploc baggie with the corner cut. Pipe mixture in halved eggs. Place Marination Peppers in a Pickle on each egg for an extra kick. Add a pinch of Hawaiian sea salt. Devour.
