pThe award-winning Microsoft Cookbook has raised more than $175,000 for a href=”http://\/\/seattlemag.com/farestarts-20th-anniversary-bash-resembles-ave…” target=”_blank”FareStart, the culinary career training/a and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged people./p
pThis philanthropic project was envisioned and executed by Microsoft employees Colin and Erica McCaig, as part of the company’s commendable giving program. (Employees have donated more than $1 billion to 31,000 nonprofits since 1983.)/p
pAnd here’s another sweet plot twist: The cookbook-writing couple fell in love and got married while compiling recipes from thousands of Microsofties from around the globe. Can we get an emaww-men/em?/p
pThis tremendous effort was recently rewarded with a high honor. It was named best charity/fundraising book of the year by Gourmondo International, besting some pretty serious competition. (First Lady Michelle Obama’s book was in the running, too.)/p
pThe Microsoft Cookbook is now three volumes strong, and is a href=”http://www.amazon.com/The-Microsoft-Cookbook-Volume-1/dp/0985818700/ref=…“available to the public/a, not just employees. All proceeds benefit FareStart./p
