Must Drink
Revelry on Red Mountain

Head east for a wine-drinking adventure at the Col Solare Winery atop Red Mountain. This fifth annual tasting event will feature the latest wine releases from 24 Washington winemakers, plus bites and spectacular panoramic views of the valley below the winery.

Must Dine

Cozy, All-Weather Patio Dining

Tut, tut, it looks like wet weather this Memorial Day weekend. But don’t let rain spoil all your patio plans. Get a taste of the outdoors on these five all-season restaurant patios.

Must See

SIFF is in Full Swing

The less than sunny weather forecast is good news for SIFF fans, who’ll be spending many hours indoors watching indie flicks. This weekend we recommend two documentaries profiling pioneering women with local ties: The Punk Singer (5/24, 9:30 p.m.), about feminist rock goddess Kathleen Hanna, lead singer of the groundbreaking Olympia-based riot grrrl band Bikini Kill; and Her Aim Is True (5/27, 2 p.m.), about Jini Dellaccio, the photographer from Gig Harbor whose 1960s shots of rock musicians set the standard for album-cover cool. Both screen at The Harvard Exit. See the full schedule at siff.net

Must Celebrate

Happy Birthday, Hot Cakes!

Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery is turning one year old and the store is celebrating all day Saturday, May 25, with half-price goodies, $5 shakes and a special boozy birthday cake shake for $6. If you haven’t yet visited the Ballard sweet spot, now is the time to go.

Must Swing

Camp Jitterbug’s Jump Session Show

Each year, Camp Jitterbug draws hundreds of expert jazz dancers to workshops, heart-racing competitions and dance parties across the city. But slightly less coordinated civilians can experience the fun, too, at the public Jump Session Show. Audience members are encouraged to come in era-appropriate dress, join the beginners’ drop-in class and stay for the jammin’ after-party on two dance floors.
