MUST PLAY-DOH
Open for Construction
Opens Thursday (3/1–4/14) – In conjunction with the NCECA conference (read: ceramics storm) coming to town this month, SOIL art gallery has transformed itself into an interactive clay-making “office,” where you can can get your hands dirty helping artists build an evolving landscape out of one ton of clay. Check out this behind the scenes video of the installation build out:

3/1 opening is 6-9 p.m.; Otherwise, gallery is open Weds-Sat 12-5 p.m.; Free admission. 112 3rd Avenue S; 206.264.8061; soilart.org

MUST DANCE

Pina
Opens Friday (3/2–3/8)  – We love that SIFF Cinema at the Uptown is regularly showing 3D films that offer transforming experiences (rather than sword-in-the-face gimmickry). Wim Wender’s stunning, Oscar-nominated documentary about renowned German choreographer Pina Bausch takes both dance films and 3D technology to new heights.

3/2-3/8; times and prices vary. SIFF Cinema at the Uptown, 511 Queen Anne Avenue N, 206.324.9996, siff.net

MUST TASTE
Green Tea Treats
Thanks to green tea’s antioxidant-rich, metabolism-boosting superpowers, you need not feel guilty about craving these three desserts (and one cocktail) served at different restaurants around Seattle.

MUST HEAR
11th Annual Sound Off! Finals
Saturday (3/3) – For more than a decade, EMP’s Sound Off! competition has given little-known local bands the chance to prove their chops. Past winners have included The Lonely Forest and Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head (now known as Brite Futures), both of which have earned wide acclaim since. First prize includes a performance at Bumbershoot 2012 and, with any luck, eternal fame.
Times vary. $8–$12. EMP Museum, 325 Fifth Ave. N; 206.770.2700; empmuseum.org
