Opens Friday (11/16-/11/17 ) You may not know much about Brad Nixona man who went from being a college president to the adored leader of a controversial 1970s offshoot of Buddhismbut neither did his son. In the new locally-produced film Bladfold, David Nixon tells his father’s wildly compelling, true story through original songs, old photos and animation.

Hear My Train A Comin’: Hendrix Hits London
Opens Saturday (11/17) A new trove of Jimi Hendrix memorabilia, including concert footage, clothing and personal effects, arrives at EMP this week -- all related to the superstar’s impact on the London music and fashion scenes. To celebrate the grand opening, EMP is hosting a concert of Hendrix songs at the Sky Church Saturday night, featuring Billy Cox (a former bandmate of Hendrix’s), Brad Whitford, Mike McCready, Ian Moore and many more talented local musicians.

Saturday (11/17) One of Seattle’s best fashion shows and philanthropic events unveils its runway at Batch 206 Distillery this weekend, showcasing designs from local mainstays Butch Blum, Canopy Blue, David Lawrence and Sway & Cake. Since 2007, FACE (Fashion, Auction, Compassion, Event) has raised funds for the Seattle chapter of the Sunflower Children, which supports impoverished children around the world. That’s a cause worth dressing up for.

Local producer Rebecca Staffel says her team has been “stirring the pots all summer to preserve the bounty of the 2012 fruit harvest.” A.J Rathbun has the sccop on this year’s jam flavors, including Blueberry Hemingway Jam, Pear Butter with Vanilla and more.
