"Animale 2006 Yakima Valley Grenache ($22) Matt Gubitosa has been making wine in his Seattle basement since 1991 (and still is). HeÆs intrigued by lighter, food-friendly wines like this southern-style Rh(ne blend with aromas of strawberry, herbs and pepper. Primarily made with Grenache (79 percent) from Gilbert Vineyard, one of few vineyards in the Ahtanum area southwest of Yakima, this wine also has a bit of Petite Sirah (12 percent) for its deep purple color, and Syrah (9 percent) to add spice. Pairs with: Pork chops with caramelized onions and plums."
