November’s gloomy weather can bring out couch-potato tendencies in kids. Not yours, though, because you, smart parent, have signed your child up to run the Seattle Marathon.
You don’t need $250 running shoes and a CamelBak; this is a marathon your kids do a little at a time, at a place near home.
Print out a handy chart, head out to a local running track or trail and tick off the miles together—as many as 25 (but don’t sweat it if your child does way less than that). Kids are also encouraged to read 13 books and perform 13 good deeds, then show up to run the final 1.2 miles at a special event on Saturday, November 26 beginning at Seattle Center.
