Help support chef Matt Farrer as he battles Colon Cancer with Breaking Bread: A benefit dinner at Canlis Restaurant on Sunday, January 27 at 6pm.
“Breaking Bread” will feature a special five-course tasting menu prepared by notable Seattle chefs that Farrer has worked with in the past, including: Jason Franey, Canlis Restaurant; James Sherrill, Restaurant Zoe; Jason Wilson, Crush; Bill Morris, the Rainier Club, and Blaine Wetzel, Willows Inn.
The all-inclusive dinner is $250 per person and includes a wine flight designed by Canlis sommeliers Nelson Daquip and Phillip Dunn. All of the proceeds and gratuities go to support Farrer’s medical fund. The event starts at 6pm for cocktails by James MacWilliams and hors d’oeuvres, the full dinner starts at 7pm. In addition to the dinner, there will be a public after-party at 1927 Events from 9pm-2am! This event will have an accessible entrance donation of $20, all of which goes to benefit Farrer. Admission to this event also includes two drink tickets and food. There'll be whole roasted pigs, with standard picnic sides including coleslaw, sauce, potatoes, buns, and more. The event will also include a $5 raffle with a bounty of local as prizes.
About Matt: Farrer, a 32-year-old chef at Restaurant Zoe and much-loved figure in the Seattle restaurant scene, is facing a difficult battle with this type of cancer. Farrer is revered by many for his cooking skill having worked in kitchens across the city, as well as for his infectious enthusiasm and positive energy. Many of Farrer’s friends, present and former colleagues, chefs, and restaurant owners - including Brian and Mark Canlis and Scott Staples - have joined forces to hold this benefit dinner and after-party to help raise funds for his medical care.
